Position Summary:
Assists in planning, coordinating and monitoring the research activities of UTHealth School of Public Health Dallas and the Center for Pediatric Population Health. Develops and administers procedures and guidelines designed to comply with appropriate regulations relating to the administration of government and private research grants and contracts and for the interpretation and application of such procedures and regulations.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Assists Principal Investigator with pre and post award administration and coordinating, including proposal submissions, negotiation and acceptance of all sponsored agreements, award modifications, sub-recipient monitoring and non-financial closeout of awards.
Serves as liaison to researchers, other departments and SPA for proposal development, submission and maintenance of awards.
Gathers and provides information regarding funding opportunities, pertinent information and application procedures to applicants and Principal Investigators.
Analyzes proposed grants and contract proposals and awards for special conditions/restrictions and establishes controls as needed to ensure full compliance.
Provides assistance to Principal Investigators and their staff to ensure allowability and allocability available to them by counseling and/or disseminating information and guidelines of the various granting agencies.
Adjust budgets, personnel actions dependent upon contract requirements and communicates changes to appropriate personnel.
Works closely with research administration team and administrative manager to ensure appropriate sourcing and effort coordinating.
Coordinates activities in establishing grant protocol with institutions that may be involved in similar activities as named by the grant.
Assists in development of progress plans with professional organizations relative to the objective and purpose of grant funding for a particular area of research or training.
Compiles and distributes monthly financial and personnel reports for grants and contracts at the departmental or school level.
Negotiate with agency regarding renewal of contract/subcontract.
Oversees proper close-out of grants and contracts, including but not limited to: RPPRs, No-Cost Extensions, and final financial reports to grant agencies.
Creates, maintains and updates grants folders, files, and inventory of assets procured under contract and grant accounts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Effective communication and negotiation skills
Database and spreadsheet skills
Preferred:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Attentive to details and highly organized
Certified Research Administrator designation preferred
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education
Minimum Experience:
Four (4) years of experience
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
