Community Information Now (CI:Now) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit local data intermediary housed in and staffed through the UTHealth School of Public Health. Working with a variety of public and nonprofit partner organizations, CI:Now turns local data into information Texas communities can use for planning, trending community change over time, understanding relationships among community issues, and measuring results. Our vision is improved lives and decreased disparities through democratized data.
CI:Now’s core staffing is contracted to UTHealth. This position is part of a small team located at the UTHealth School of Public Health in San Antonio, CI:Now’s academic partner and institutional home since 2008.
This position gathers community data, helps execute analyses, develops narrative content to describe analysis results, and helps maintain and update online data tools. CI:Now’s portfolio varies depending on current local need, but can include community report cards; program- and community-level outcome measurement; program evaluation; management, analysis, and visualization of large administrative and survey datasets; integrating administrative data; and community needs and assets assessments
Position Key Accountabilities:
Gathers needed quantitative data, including both publicly-available data and private data available only by request
Processes data and conducts basic analyses, working closely with team members and with guidance from the PI and senior staff
Drafts narrative content for reports and infographics to describe important or unexpected patterns, relationships, and trends in the data. Drafts content for website and newsletter.
Participates in establishing and sustaining internal project management infrastructure and processes to ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality data and other products. Develops and maintains good documentation of data acquired, data source contacts, analyses conducted, and online tool updates performed.

- Advanced knowledge of concepts of research field assigned.
Strongwritten and oral communications skills, including demonstrated skills inaccurately communicating data and technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Solidknowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel) and internet and literaturesearches is required.

R,SAS, or equivalentTheideal candidate would be highly detail-oriented, work well both collaborativelyand independently, and be good at finding and telling the story in the data.He/she would have a high tolerance for constant change, a knack for gettingclarity out of ambiguity, and a passion for using data to strengthen equity andhelp others improve community conditions.
- Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field of science or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Two (2) years of related experience in a research or clinical lab environment.
May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
