Cizik School of Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) –located in Houston’s Texas Medical Center, the largest healthcare complex in the world – is recruiting for a Program Director for our Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program within our Department of Graduate Studies at the academic rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor.

Cizik School of Nursing invites applications for full-time non-tenure track positions in the specialty areas, maternal/pediatrics, obstetrics, pediatrics, psychiatric/mental health, acute/critical care, adult/gerontology, family health, community health nursing, medical-surgical, oncologywomen’s health, nurse anesthesia, nursing informatics, and nursing leadership/administration. The MSN Program Director is responsible for the administration of our MSN program and post-graduate certification programs

Responsibilities will include:

  • Both didactic coursework (online and classroom as appropriate) and clinical supervision of students at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels.

  • Direct patient care activities through clinical practice opportunities with affiliated hospitals and other healthcare organizations.

Other scholarly/institutional service responsibilities will be determined in coordination with the Department Chair.

Tenure track faculty are expected to teach and actively maintain their research productivity. Non-tenure track faculty are expected to teach and maintain a relevant area of scholarship.


A doctoral degree in nursing or related field (PhD or DNP) and eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Texas are required for the rank of Assistant Professor and above. MSN or related discipline preferred if doctoral degree is in a field other than nursing .


  • 4 years of experience as a nurse educator or nurse practitioner in a strong clinical and/or educational setting.

  • Non-Tenure Track: strong clinical background. Teaching experience is preferred


  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students and faculty.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
