Position Summary:
UTHealth Houston is offering a unique entry level audit role with our finance department. The associate auditor participates in independent, objective assurance and consulting activities involving operational, financial, information technology/security, and other areas across UTHealth Houston, including the UT Physicians Practice Plan. They perform special projects and investigations as assigned. This role will have both financial audit as well as information technology projects. You will get to learn both sides, and as you develop projects can skew more to one discipline or the other as your interest and expertise grows.
Currently this role comes into our office at the University Center Tower only one day a week, and the rest is remote work. You will qualify for all UTHealth Houston benefits including coverage under our medical insurance and participation in a pension plan run by the State of Texas.

Position Key Accountabilities:
Participates in evaluating operational, financial, applications, information technology/security, and other areas to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of management controls to achieve efficient and effective operations, compliance, safeguarding of assets, and reliability of information.
Assists with performing engagements, special projects, and investigations in accordance with departmental procedures and professional standards.
Participates in planning audits and other projects including defining objectives, conducting interviews and risk assessments, and preparing audit programs under the direction of audit management.
Obtains, analyzes, and evaluates data by using data analytics software as a basis for making informed, objective conclusions on the adequacy and effectiveness of system/activities reviewed.
Prepares organized, clear, and concise working papers to document fieldwork and supporting conclusions in accordance with departmental, The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and other professional standards.
Demonstrates analytical ability and good judgment by identifying issues, keeping supervisor informed, and recommending solutions.
Builds and maintains good working relationships with UTHealth Houston management.
Performs audit procedures including identifying and analyzing various forms of evidence.
Remains current in knowledge of auditing techniques, data analytics, and information technology/security, with an awareness of emerging trends.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Knowledge of accounting principles, professional auditing standards, and current developments in the internal auditing field.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field required.
Minimum Experience:
None.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
