Position Summary:

Work in coordination with the Community Engagement team of the Harris County SARS-CoV-2 Prevalence project to recruit and enroll participants in targeted communities for SARS-CoV-2 testing, as well as promote testing and prevention practices.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Establishes rapport with individuals in targeted communities that are being asked to participate in the project. Motivate individuals to get all members of their family tested and promote testing to others in their community.

  2. Responsible for collecting data and reporting back to the community engagement team.

  3. Contacts participants to schedule clinical visits.

  4. Help patients utilize resources in their area and assist with applications for eligible programs.

  5. Coach community members in effective prevention practices to reduce risk of infection.

  6. Document recruitment and education activities.

  7. Continuously expand knowledge and understanding of SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19, community needs, resources, services and programs available.

  8. Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines in regard to participant information.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

• Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) – Certified CHW

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

• Must have ability to perform complex and diverse administrative duties that involve application of procedures and demonstrate appropriate judgment within the CHW scope of work.

Preferred:

Valid driver’s license required

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum Experience:

One (1) year of relevant work experience in health, social worker or education. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
