McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for full-time, (1.0 FTE), faculty positions in the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science. A competitive start-up and salary package will be offered. The group holds an NEI Vision Core Grant and Core Facilities include a Confocal Microscope Facility and a Two-Photon Microscope.
The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to the to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Primary responsibility is to conduct research on the structure and function of the retina, including translational approaches, within the broad field of Visual Neuroscience.
Candidates must hold an MD, Ph.D. or equivalent, show demonstrated research productivity and the ability to establish and maintain an innovative externally funded research program.
Qualified applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence, discovery and service, have potential to be outstanding in their field of expertise, and share an interest in fulfilling the common goals of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. Preferred applicants will possess MD, Ph.D. and demonstrate demonstrated research productivity and the ability to establish and maintain an innovative externally funded research program. Additional skills such as, excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong potential for a leadership role within the department.
