UTHealth Houston is seeking a personable, detailed oriented, Financial Support Specialist for the Student Loan Collections area of the Office of Student Financial Aid. You must be a team player, with excellent customer service and communication skills. Applicants should be proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word, with an advanced skill-set that includes mail merge. Accounts receivables experience is required. Student loan collections and accounts payable experience preferred.
This is in essence a customer service position that deals with student loans. You will monitor delinquent accounts. The employee will draft letters and monitor loans. He or she will make collection referrals as well as advise on litigation matters in reference to accounts. You will respond to queries via phone and email in relation to accounts. They will also be back-up for preparing weekly deposits and making journal entries.
This is a full time position that is classified as non-exempt. It is eligible for full benefits including healthcare coverage and an excellent State run retirement program. The building it works in is accessible by either Metro Rail or the bus lines.

Department Specific tasks include the following:
Respond to student inquiries regarding loan repayment, via phone, email, or MS Teams
Monitor delinquent accounts and perform due diligence tasks according to federal and institutional guidelines
Ensure timely payment of monthly invoices
Complete loan verification certificates for borrowers requesting federal loan consolidation
Monitor accounts referred commercial collection agencies
Monitor accounts referred to UT System for litigation
Complete other tasks and assist with departmental projects as assigned
Position Key Accountabilities:
Maintains, reconciles and researches accounts, financial records and/or reports.
Prepares and reviews financial entries and support documents.
Prepares and validates source documents and/or bank deposits
Resolves basic to moderately complex accounting matters and account inquiries.
Communicates, verbally and in writing, and interacts with a range of department constituents which may include students, other UTHSC staff, agencies, vendors, UT System and/or others regarding departmental matters including financial information and documentation.
Demonstrates ability to understand and apply University and Government Policies and Procedures to job duties.
Assists with maintaining the storage and retrieval of records and documentation.
May assists with preparation of annual financial reports.
Assists with compiling data from reports using required knowledge of departmental, project, and/or university policies and procedures.
May handles confidential information and sensitive issues.
Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.
FMS, HRMS, and/or Campus Solutions training with a passing score may be required.
Minimum Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
One (1) year related work experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
