Position Summary:

We are looking for an entry level Medical Records Technician I to work with the billing area of UT Physicians. This employee ensures physical documentation is accounted for according to Medicaid/Medicare and organizational guidelines to facilitate payment for services. It is a perfect role for candidates with a background in banking, insurance, or wanting to switch up from being back to front office in the medical industry. You must be detail oriented and customer service focused. You will correcting medical records for patients and physicians.

This role is full time, and is classified as non-exempt. You will work in our UT Physicians Professional Building. The facility is on the Metro bus and rail lines, and be aware that workers who drive pay to park. You will be eligible for all UTHealth benefits including insurance coverage and participation in a pension plan run by the State of Texas.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Locates and retrieves records to accurately audit and verify patient information.

  2. Updates client charts with information in a timely manner.

  3. Audits charts, records and record documentation deficiencies for attending physicians to correct.

  4. Tracks location of charts using appropriate software.

  5. Responds to information requests either in person or by telephone in a timely manner.

  6. As requested, locate and make ready charts or information from charts in a timely manner

  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Basic office software.

Minimum Education:

High school diploma.

Minimum Experience:

None, but prefer background in a detail driven industry

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
