As a Nutritionist working in our Ob/Gyn department, you will enrich the patient experience by providing service as the care management and education expert, while collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team. You will provide personalized and person-centered care towards the support, treatment, and management of wellness for those living with various conditions, up to, but not limited to diabetes. For the first 6 months, our team is committed to in-person training to understand clinical flow and build collaborative team network to create relationships that will support each new clinician, build rapport and communication with internal team members, and facilitate care for patients. After this, our nutrition and diabetes care team follow a hybrid work model, working in-office 2-4 times per week and remotely for the rest. Our in-office time is used primarily for collaborative patient care, research, and training. Schedule: Full Time, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm (Opportunity for Hybrid after 6 months)

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Responsible for provision of medical nutrition therapy to develop personalized care plans and self-management strategies and care plans with patients and their teams.

  2. Maintains multicultural competency to provide optimal nutrition services for diverse populations.

  3. Provides culturally appropriate assessment to identify barriers to healthful eating within the population.

  4. Assesses patient’s needs around self-care and provides education, support and continuity of care.

  5. Develops and implements plan via coordination of care with other healthcare professionals.

  6. Develops personalized care plans with principles of shared decision-making, self-advocacy, and self-care to support a positive focus of control, drive patient engagement, and support optimal wellness choices and strategies.

  7. Maintains patient records for benchmarking progress of nutritional care plans.

  8. Adheres to internal regulations under the guidance of the manager and the department.

  9. Maintains inventory of all nutrition education materials, including pamphlets, equipment, and audiovisuals.

  10. Interprets and disseminates current scientific information regarding food, nutrition and health to other health professionals.

  11. May manage Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations and salary planning.

  12. Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Certified Registered Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Licensed Registered Dietitian in the State of Texas. In Ob-Gyn, requires Certification in Medical Nutrition Therapy for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (POCS) or completion within 3 months of hire. Other certifications may be required depending on department.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition by an accredited or approved education program.

Minimum Experience:

Four years of experience in an outpatient setting with direct collaborative and one-on-one patient care responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
