Position Summary:

We are looking

for a Program Manager for our Office of Admissions and Student Affairs in

McGovern Medical School. The successful candidate will work with students

at all levels in the MD program, but will focus primarily on 3rd and 4th year

students on various tasks including:

The assignment

of all 3 rd and 4 th year schedules;

Student

applications for away rotations;

Support and

assistance with application to residency programs and career advising as

necessary.

Applicants who

are technologically proficient are highly desirable as the successful candidate

will utilize multiple national application portals and various educational

software packages.

Preference

will be given to candidates with the following:

-Experience

with One45 software, PeopleSoft (myUTH/Campus) and various educational software

packages

-Strong

written communication skills

-Strong

presentation (oral communication) skills

-Ability to be

a productive and effective team player

The program

manager will interact closely with students to help them achieve educational

goals and to progress in their professional development. There are many

opportunities to collaborate with other offices throughout McGovern Medical

School and across UTHealth.

The Office of

Admissions and Student Affairs is a fast-paced environment that includes

routine and non-routine tasks, frequent interruptions and a high volume of

requests and correspondence from prospective students, current students and

other offices.

This is a full

time position eligible for full benefits including a great healthcare plan and

participation in the Teacher's Retirement System run by the State of

Texas.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Oversees all aspects of the program activities. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors project progress. Develops, implements, and manages policies and procedures.

  2. Creates annual budget, negotiates service contracts, reports on progress and authorizes expenditures.

  3. Informs upper management of key activities and makes periodic progress reports.

  4. Works closely with internal departments regarding strategy and collaborative opportunities.

  5. May assist in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies.

  6. Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects.

  7. Working in conjunction with Public Affairs, may create and edit various communications materials for the department/program, which may include printed materials, web site content and/or department newsletters.

  8. Communicates with community and professionals to share objectives and outcomes. Prepares/makes oral presentations at professional meetings.

  9. May manage Human Resources activities for direct report in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and terminating, training and development, performance evaluations, and salary planning.

  10. Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

May require program-specific certifications.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years of applicable experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
