Position Summary:

The laboratory is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, skilled research technician. Prefer the candidate to have

more than three years (full-time) in histology (cryo- and paraffin sectioning), immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization,

immunoblotting, cell culture, and mouse genotyping and handling. Research experience in mouse craniofacial

development and/or mouse embryogenesis is preferred.

Knowledge of mouse genetics and/or craniofacial development

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Under supervision, conducts research activities according to lab protocol. Research activities may include all of the

following: traditional laboratory experiments and activities (molecular and cellular biology), and mouse genetics studies.

  1. May maintain clean laboratory equipment and work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

  2. Collects, evaluates, and interprets research data to provide needed information to Principal Investigator and other

researchers. Updates notebooks, records, and databases as needed.

  1. Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for research.

  2. Orders laboratory and other supplies as directed by senior research staff.

  3. As needed, coordinate the work of laboratory students and assistants to ensure efficient, timely and high quality results.

  4. Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.

  5. Performs other duties as assigned.


General knowledge of research fields.


Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.


No years of experience.

Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents. Security Sensitive: This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
