Position Summary:

Under general direction of PI, conducts bench works and mass spectrometric analysis to support proteomics research projects in cancer and other diseases. Maintain lab supplies, waste management and safety. Coordinate with lab staffs and collaborators for receiving, storing and managing clinical samples. Provide general lab support to research projects.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Under general direction of PI, conduct research in proteomics study of cancer and other types of diseases, including sample preparation, mass spectrometric analysis, data processing and report.

  2. Maintain QC and daily activities of an Orbitrap mass spectrometer.

  3. Maintains adequate level of lab supplies to assure timely achievement of lab activities.

  4. Maintains accurate and timely records to include data, results, notebooks, records, databases, protocols etc.

  5. Monitors laboratory and/or other supplies to ensure sufficient inventory to support research projects.Ensures quality of reagents or other supplies.

  6. Coordinate with lab staffs and collaborators for receiving, storing and managing clinical samples. Provide general lab support to research projects.

  7. Responsible for waste management and safety to comply with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.

  8. May participate in continuing education programs, workshops and seminars.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience with mass spectrometry based proteomics, including sample preparation and mass spectrometric analysis.


General knowledge and some detailed concepts of research field assigned.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

One year of related experience in a research or clinical lab environment.

May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
