POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Seeking a detail-oriented, organized and reliable research assistant to contribute to research related to cancer biology and new targets/drugs development. Primary activities will include breeding and testing transgenic mice, assisting in mouse tumor dissection and analysis, cell culture experiments, lab ordering and supply stocking. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required. Previous experiences with animal handling and cell culture are preferred. The successful candidate will maintain timely and accurate laboratory records and coordinate with other lab members to ensure efficient, timely and high quality results.
Conducts research activities, under general directions, according to research. Research activities may include some or all of the following: traditional laboratory experiments and activities, informatics, and training and/or animal laboratories.
Maintains adequate level of lab supplies to assure timely achievement of lab activities. Ensures quality of reagents or other supplies.
Maintains accurate and timely records to include notebooks, records, databases, etc. as needed by the research project.
Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for research department
As needed, coordinates the work of laboratory personnel, support senior research staff to ensure efficient, timely and high quality results. Answers questions or resolves problems regarding routine or more complex duties.
Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.
May participate in continuing education programs, workshops and seminars.
Performs other duties as assigned.
General knowledge of research fields.
Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
No years of experience. Strong preference for one year of experience.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
