POSITION SUMMARY:

Research/Senior Research associate sought to manage translational research laboratory. Focus on mechanisms of altered neurodevelopment following adverse exposures such as infection/inflammation, drug exposure, hypoxia. Provides project management for research projects of considerable scope and complexity. Decisions impact the success of the research project(s). Experience in neurobiology/developmental neurobiology preferred.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Provides project management for a wide variety of research experiments, including personnel, facilities, supplies, etc in support of research project desired outcomes, budgets and timelines.

  2. Plans methods and procedures for collection of data to provide information needed.

  3. May oversee the banking, tracking and integrity of human biobank samples including serum, plasma, tissue and amniotic fluid.

  4. May conduct experiments using sophisticated equipment and applies complex techniques, methods, and procedures.

  5. Influences project direction and outcomes by identifying opportunities to enhance, re-terminate, or re-direct research activities. May monitor and revise, as necessary, the project timeline, budget, expenditures and supplies.

  6. Evaluates and interprets data and provides results in written, tabular or figure form to investigators to support publication.

  7. Assists in the preparation and writing of research reports, manuscripts, papers and grant proposals for presentation and publication.

  8. Provides direction and training to personnel to ensure efficient, timely and high quality results in compliance with all protocols, guidelines, regulations, etc.

  9. May mentors fellows, graduate students and others as appropriate in support of the University’s mission.

  10. Maintains quality control checks and a safe environment in compliance with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.

  11. Supports investigator in human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, and performance evaluations.

  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

  3. May recruit study participants or field interviewers.

  4. Evaluates and interprets data and provides results to investigators to support publication.

  5. Maintains quality control checks and a safe environment in compliance with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.

  6. Assists in the preparation and writing of research reports, manuscripts, papers and grant proposals for presentation and publication.

  7. Provides direction and training to lab personnel to ensure efficient, timely and high quality results in compliance with all protocols, guidelines, regulations, etc.

  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Considerable knowledge in basic and sophisticated equipment.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with three (3) years of related research experience including experience in a lead research role; or

Master’s degree in a related field with one (1) year of related research experience including experience in a lead research role; or

Doctorate degree.

Minimum Experience:

Years of experience varies based on education level.

Senior level requires:

MINIMUM EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in related field with four (4) years of related research experience including significant experience in a project management research role; or

Master’s degree in related field with two (2) years of related research experience including significant experience in a project management research role; orDoctorate degree.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Years of experience varies based on education level.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
