The Center for Health Care Data (CHCD) engages in research, education, and public service through the study of collected health care data that requires interdisciplinary participation. The CHCD has relationships with a broad range of qualified researchers from academic institutions, policy think tanks, foundations and other organizations interested in improving the efficiency and outcomes of healthcare.
As part of the CHCD team this position will work with researchers, programmers, biostatisticians and analysts to support targeted research to answer clinical and policy related questions that seek to improve population health.
Responsibilities include planning, organizing and coordinating activities ensuring that all projects are successfully implemented within budget and on-schedule. This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate priorities to all involved. It requires developing mutually beneficial collaborative relationships with qualified researchers.
This position encourages creative thinking and depends on the ability to work productively with a wide range of team members including public health researchers and advocates, clinicians, statisticians, programmers, IT system experts, project managers, policy experts, etc.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with major institutional and individual qualified researchers.
Coordinate and manage project planning, project development, and strategic planning among various staff to determine proper project delivery methods.
Provide statistical expertise on clinical research and population health studies.
Oversee data management and data analysis on multiple studies.
Co-author publications when applicable.
Oversee and perform cost estimating, design, project scheduling and budgeting, quality assurance, communication, procurement, project closeout, and direct billing of purchase orders for multiple projects and customers across all project platforms.
Identify, develop, and gather resources to complete the project. This may include preparing designs and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, and project staff. May liaise with other operational areas in the organization to secure specialized resources and contributions for the project.
May manage ongoing procurements and vendor relationships for state initiatives.
Research new customer prospects and write formal proposals for collaborative partnerships. Oversee the submission and renewals of formal proposals with administration, UT Healths legal department and collaborative partners to generate new income and retention of current relationships.
Provide statistical analysis and support for new grant applications.
Ensure project controls, tracking and performance measurement, reporting and project delivery objectives are met. Monitor progress and performance against the project plan; act to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
Oversee communications, internally and externally, including partner engagement activities.
Responsible for assisting with the management, implementation, and launch of new products and services. Supports upper management with long-term planning, external relationship development, and staff development.
May conduct onsite visits, meetings, observations and on the job training. Also directs and creates professional development, staff training, and mentoring for all project staff.
May manage Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
May initiate research projects that support the mission and the vision of the CHCD.
Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, leadership and planning, administration, or related field.
- Doctoral level degree in public health, research, biostatistics, health management, policy or other related field. Experience in project management, healthcare management leadership and planning, administration, or related field preferred
- Seven years of experience in project management.
Experience in research, project management or management of healthcare data research projects.
Strong working knowledge of healthcare payment and information systems.
- Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
