POSITIONSUMMARY:

Provides advanced professional work in an independent manner

involving medical, neuropsychological, and psychiatric social case services to

interpret social and environmental factors relating to treatment and/or

research.

POSITIONKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Interviews and screens patients to

interpret social and environmental factors and medical requirements.

  1. Plans course of treatment or refers

cases to appropriate professionals, institutions or agencies to ensure that

patients receive appropriate treatment or referral.

  1. Obtains data from patients and/or

relatives in the best interest of their problems to assist in the development

of a number of significant research, clinical, or teaching endeavors, programs,

and social services.

  1. Works towards meeting total patient

care. This includes interviews with the

patients and/or relatives to study the individual’s problems and needs, confers

with the physician, faculty, and/or with any social agency which may have an

interest in the patient’s problem, assists patients in developing an

economically feasible method of planning for services, and to make

psychological and social adjustments necessitated by different types of

illnesses, and conducts individual and group therapies.

  1. Assist psychologist with patient and family interviews,

co-facilitating group therapies, and scheduling.

  1. Utilizes approved methods and techniques in administering

standardized questionnaires and tests.

  1. Assist with training new staff and students in the division.

  2. Prepares detailed reports and may

video-tape sessions with patients for review with a faculty member.

  1. Conducts independent psychotherapies,

including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based

psychotherapies, to assist the patients in achieving positive psychological

and/or social adjustments and may carry administrative responsibilities for a

program.

  1. Participates

in teaching and staff development activities.

  1. Solicits

the assistance of religious, social, and welfare agencies in the treatment of

patients.

  1. Interacts

with staff, psychologists, and other providers.

  1. Responds

to emergency situations.

  1. Performs

other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Licensure as a Master Social Worker by the Texas Board of SocialWork is required.

MINIMUMEDUCATION:

  • Master’s Degree in SocialWork from a school approved by the Council on Social Work.

MINIMUMEXPERIENCE:

  • Four years ofsocial work experience required.

  • Abilityto interact with a diverse adult and older adult population in a clinicalsetting.

  • Medical socialwork experience is preferred.Experience conducting psychotherapywith adults is required.

  • Experience conducting psychotherapy with older adults ispreferred.

  • Experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) ispreferred.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS:

  • Exertsup to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of forcefrequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
