Position Summary:

Responsible for complex activities related to system administration and interacting with Active Directory. Ensures long-term requirements of multi-systems operations, security and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization.

You must have at least 3 years of experience working with Active Directory. the candidate chosen must be comfortable with Domain Name System, Active Directory Federation Services, Active Directory Rights Management Services, PCI DSS, and Key Management Services.

This is a full time role that will report physically to the University Center Tower in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Responsible for all procedures and processes necessary to ensure the safety and integrity of organizational servers, data systems, file structures, computer operating systems and computer system software.

  2. Responsible for all activities related to system administration.

  3. Assigns personnel to various projects, directs their activities, and evaluates their work.

  4. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, security and integrity of computer operating systems and supporting software.

  5. Implements operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability, safety and performance of the system.

  6. Performs programming and testing.

  7. Conducts studies of projected enhancements in hardware and software and presents recommendations to management.

  8. Conducts performance measurement and evaluation of the computer system.

  9. Determines and implements security and performance improvement activities.

  10. Participates in all phases of total system planning and in the generation of justifications and specifications for facility requirements and enhancements.

  11. Implements system software projects.

  12. Plans and supervises training of systems administrator personnel.

  13. Presents technical briefings.

  14. Participates in formulation and implementation of installation standards and procedures.

  15. Attends professional conferences and acts in place of supervisor as needed.

  16. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Ability to configure and administer diverse servers and computer operating systems. Familiar with WEB technology, database concepts and networking. Very strong knowledge base in Active Directory and support of it. Must understand large user environments as well as DNS, ADFS, ADRMS, DSS, and KMS.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree, training in information technology or related experience in lieu of education

Minimum Experience:

Three (3) years of experience in information technology support and systems administration in large diverse environments.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
