UTHealth is looking for a Senior Network Engineer who will focus on our Telecommunications applications such as Microsoft Teams Phone System (UCaaS), Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS), AudioCodes Technologies (SBC, ATA, OVOC), and Avaya On-premises Solutions (SBC, CM, SM, AMS, CMS, AES). This employee is Responsible for providing and maintaining high-quality, reliable, flexible and appropriate infrastructure networking technology solutions focused purely on telecommunication systems. Applicants will need to have at least six years of experience working on large scale systems in telecommunications that serve at least ten thousand users on a daily basis. This will be across many buildings throughout the Houston area, and encompass several sizes of scale from high-rise office buildings to small clinics.
This will be a full time position that is eligible for all UTHealth benefits. These include coverage by our healthcare provider and participation in a pension plan administered by the State of Texas. This role will need to report to an on-site location in the heart of the Texas Medical Center in Houston. The position will be salaried and classified as exempt. You will round out a team of four telecommunication engineering professionals.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Maintain major telecommunications network infrastructure hardware and software packages providing advanced configuration skills, with knowledge of all carrier types and delivery methods.
Manages daily operations of a wide area campus telecommunications network.
Creates departmental standards and conducts intra-department training.
Assists in the creation, engineering, developing, and installing network solutions to complex technical, procedural, and logistical problems.
Configures network routing and switching using established standards and procedures.
Analyzes, designs, and administers the performance of network connections and/or configurations.
Manage the performance of major network software packages and modify network device configurations.
Oversees and/or performs the physical set up of a network assuring integrity of communications and connections.
Assist management in developing reports and procedures to optimize the benefits of network capabilities.
Performs complex problem determination and resolution identifying networking problems using network analyzers and traffic analysis tools, and a technical understanding of the user community’s requirements.
Integrates services into the network including telephony, data, video, and other.
Perform cost-benefit analysis on various hardware and/or network configurations.
Other duties as assigned
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Six years experience in telecommunications networking technologies.
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
