We are looking for an entry level Support Assistant who will work in the Surgical Skills Center. This employee performs a variety of basic to moderately complex clerical tasks to support assigned area. This position may provide secretarial support. You will be working in the Surgical Skills Center, and function as the front desk person who will screen calls and direct visitors. The support assistant will open and unlock the center daily, and then lockup or close everything down at the end of their shift. You will coordinate help from our matienance team and schedule biohazard pickup. This employee is in charge of making sure the breakroom has adequate supplies and snacks. They will schedule sessions for users, and answer general inquiries about courses offered in the Surgical Skill Center.
This is a fulltime role that is eligible for all benefits from UTHealth including healthcare coverage and participation in the pension plan administered by the State of Texas. The role will report to a location in our McGovern Medical School which is in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. This building is on Metros bus and rail lines. Parking is not covered by UTHealth, but is offered at a discounted rate to employees with many options.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Handles general inquiries, collects and processes paperwork such as document processing, record keeping, and report compilation.
Transcribes correspondence and memoranda; prepares graphs; tables and manuscripts; prepares reports and presentation materials.
Schedules and maintains calendars and travel itineraries; coordinates related arrangements in compliance with all University, governmental, and/or grant policies and guidelines.
May maintain and reconcile assigned financial records/ reports for area.
Completes and processes forms and documents using standard policies and procedures.
Maintains financial record keeping systems.
Schedules meetings and rooms, invites participants, and arranges refreshments and equipment as needed. May prepare and distribute meeting minutes.
Maintains office supplies and equipment.
Screens calls and receives and directs visitors.
Handles basic, noncomplex inquiries.
May advise on basic policy and processes as assigned by supervisor
Other duties as assigned.
Basic knowledge of standard Office Software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
One (1) year related work experience required. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
