Telepsychology (Clinical Faculty)

We are currently recruiting for a faculty position in our Telemedicine Program. Faculty members utilize televideo technology from the comfort of homes or local offices to provide psychological services to select inpatient facilities throughout Texas. Once per month travel for site visits will be required and all necessary equipment and technical support will be provided.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Performing as a clinical psychologist for a maximum-security unit at North Texas State Hospital – Wichita Falls Campus with a maximum of 24 patients.

  • Expected to sit in on daily rounds and participate in twice weekly treatment team meetings via telehealth.

  • Providing case formulation for all patients on the maximum-security unit and assist making behavioral plans for certain patients.

  • Providing clinical case consultation and assisting with creating behavioral plans for “difficult patients” on other units within the state hospital.

  • Providing occasional neurocognitive assessments on patients at the hospital (approximately 1-2 per month)

  • Traveling once a month to NTSH for two full working days is required.

  • Performing psychological testing, examinations, and evaluations including trials and competency evaluations (TCE) in conformance with hospital bylaws and operating procedures, SSLC policy, Texas Administrative Code requirements, and applicable state and federal law;

  • Providing consultation and recommendations to recovery teams and interdisciplinary treatment teams for individualized treatment planning and competency restoration planning per ethical standards regarding separation of treatment services and forensic evaluation services;

  • Providing testimony in court for TCEs as requested by judge.

Qualifications:

  • Psy.D. or Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Psychology from an APA accredited program

  • Licensed or eligible for license by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
