McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applicants for a full-time Assistant/Associate (depending upon qualifications) Professor of Surgical Oncology position in the Department of Surgery. This position is a non-tenure clinical educator position. Responsibilities of the successful candidate will be in the Division of General Surgery at Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital.

Position Key Accountabilities:

-Actively participate in the teaching and academic activities of the Department

of Surgery by working with residents and fellows and in student education.

-Attend in the outpatient surgery clinic on a regular basis, make inpatient

rounds and staff the procedure clinic. Also included is presentations and

lectures and attendance at appropriate conferences such as Surgery Grand

Rounds and Morbidity and Mortality Conferences plus the scheduled LBJ

Division conferences.

-Take two call shifts of twelve hours each per month and will be offered the

opportunity to take more call if you desire. The compensation for additional call

is dependent on the availability of departmental funds and can be adjusted

according to the financial performance of the service.

The successful candidate will participate in a large, active academic practice, provide resident teaching, medical student teaching and participate in local and national conferences.

Applicants must have a medical degree, be board certified in both general surgery and surgical oncology, surgical oncology fellowship trained and be eligible for a full medical licensure in the state of Texas.
