Position Summary:

The Associate Dean of Management (ASD) will be responsible for the coordination and administration of the operational and financial affairs of The Cizik School of Nursing. The ASD day-to-day responsibilities include advising, assisting, and monitoring the school’s business activities including financial, human resource management, equipment and inventory management, information systems and space needs. Provides financial analysis and reporting and advises Dean on ways to optimize operations and services. Develops school budget.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Provides financial reports, business and marketing plans to identify trends

and make forecasts. Provides financial review of new business

opportunities for school.

  1. Develops budget and determines funding sources in compliance with any

grant, legislative or organizational restrictions. Develops or provides input to

the school annual operating plan.

  1. Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of

internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are

effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is

reliable, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and


  1. Responsible for performance reviews, counseling, salary recommendations,

and other human resources issues for direct reports.

  1. Advises faculty and staff on screening potential job candidates, hiring offers,

salary increases and other human resources issues.

  1. Monitors compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and

procedures and advises Dean, faculty or staff of possible compliance


  1. Provides advice and counsel to Dean, faculty and staff on business related

issues for school.

  1. Works with UT departments and outside vendors/contractors to purchase,

lease, maintain and/or upgrade space and equipment as needed for cost-

effective, high quality services. Responsible for asset and inventory

management for the school.

  1. Serves as liaison for school with other UT departments such as Human

Resources, Legal, and Procurement. Represents school on University

wide committees and projects.

  1. May provide oversight management (compliance) of grants to school.

May assist with pre award budget preparation of grants.

  1. Provides oversight and analysis regarding the clinic operations to ensure

cost-effective, high quality services are being provided and to support the

business and strategic goals of the school. (for Medical School and Nursing


  1. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree; business or related degree preferred

Masters degree preferred

Minimum Experience:

Eight (8) years of related experience; experience in academic field preferred

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
