Billing and Revenue Services Representative (SOD-DB Patient Services)

Acts as a key liaison between the clinics and the business office. Works closely with School of Dentistry (SOD) stakeholders and travels to clinics and departments to observe and document revenue cycle workflows within departments and clinics to make recommendations on areas that could be streamlined or improved.
Responsible for all billing related functions within billing office. Monitors, reviews, and tracks all correspondence from insurers regarding claims. Analyze insurance denials and trends, provides feedback to department/clinics on opportunities. Maintains all payer updates; changes to insurer’s rules and regulations. Strong knowledgeable preferred in Dental and Medical billing and coding and other related insurance inquires with preferred Medicaid billing. Manage insurance companies and benefit plans in EHR System and modify system configuration issues. Assist in troubleshooting insurance claim issues and provides workflow training. Strong communication skills (written and verbal), great customer service and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational ability to prioritize job responsibilities and work under pressure, must be a self-motivated and team player.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Develops relationships with the department, clinics and business office and assists with insurance and billing inquiries as needed.
Observes and documents the revenue cycle processes within departments and clinics.
Participates in the development and implementation of new system workflows and enhancements. Provides support for practice management systems utilized by the department.
Tracks and monitors issues and concerns regarding billing and clinic workflow.
Sets up and maintains insurance companies and plans in EHR.
Provides training and stays abreast of best practice billing and claims processing
Performs other duties as assigned.
Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and with a team. Strong problem solving skills. Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially with Excel, Visio and Word.
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Two years of experience. Experience in Revenue Cycle Management or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
