Position Summary:

We are looking for an experienced medical assistant to work with our pediatric surgery clinic. This is a role that will be concentrating on urology, and you will be 100% clinical is your duties and functions. Triage and chart preparation will be required. The Medical Assistant provides trained paramedical support in administering health care services. This is a fast paced department, but being a surgery clinic it has normal business hours and work weeks. You get bonus points for having surgery experience and being bilingual.

This is a full time non-exempt role. It is eligible for full benefits including low cost healthcare and an outstanding retirement program run by the State of Texas. Any overtime is paid out at time and a half.

You will be working in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. The building is on both the Metro bus and rail lines. Parking and shuttles are also available at several locations.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Directs the patient to the examination room.

  2. Reviews patient health history through a personal interview with the patient.

  3. Assists physicians with examinations.

  4. Schedules patient appoints and tests.

  5. Performs triage to determine patient needs.

  6. Orders and stocks needed clinic supplies. Maintains and schedules repair of diagnostic testing equipment.

  7. Relieves, as needed, the reception area.

  8. Responds to emergency situations.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned.


Use and care of standard clinic equipment.

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program.

Minimum Experience:

Six months experience or completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training Program.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
